In October of 1991, Scott County's first health food store opened for business: SUNSHINE HOUSE at 46 E. McClain Avenue, on the north side of the square in downtown Scottsburg, Indiana. The 1,932 square-foot building was for many years prior known as the "Dorsey Drug Store". The building later served as an addition to the Vest Home Center, which sold home furniture products before being purchased by the Lowry's in 1991.
Sunshine House only sells high-quality, whole-foods supplements, beauty products, restricted diet foods, and other all-natural, non-gmo, organic products! We have a vitamin/supplement section, beauty and body health section, grocery section, and a small café.
The Organic Café was added in the October of 2015, where you can enjoy soups, sandwiches, smoothies, protein shakes, hot chocolate and herbal teas! Come try some delicious and healthy foods or beverages today: dine-in or take-out!
Sunshine House was recently nominated for a Good Neighbor Award at the Scott County 2016 Good Neighbor Awards Banquet, where local businesses and individuals are recognized by the mayor for their contributions to make Scottsburg a better place to live and work!
